fast: "firmly fixed, tightly secured, soundly as in sleep..." 

The general take on sleep; dependent on your fear of succubi and other nocturnal predations, narcoleptic inclinations are unavoidable. The 'fast asleep' leading to the deep sleep is the most regenerative 8 hours of the day. And many valuable messages surface from the subconscious in the subsequent dreaming. BUT dangers lie in deep sleep. One is the obvious potential vulnerability to the afore-mentioned predations of succubi, mud- shadows and other vampiric elements, i.e. all those bad boys you can't see in the light of day. They don't say 'he was asleep when it hit him' for nothing. 

Our best advice, now that you know what 'fast' and deep sleep is and how necessary a regenerating function it serves, is that you must best protect it. Never go to your bed with the intention of sleeping without a dog near your bed. The Romans favoured geese. If you cannot secure the aid of animal familiars to protect your sleep patterns.. the 'short' or 'cat' nap may be the answer. Take many of these throughout the day and you'll be right as rain and safe from unsavoury predations.

I've become aware that Dr Dee was a dabbler and writer of much on Enochian manuscripts, i.e. discussing things with angels so as to improve your own contact with and or realisation of better realities. But where does that fit into our lives in the 21st century, when God is already supposed to be dead and there are, one can imagine, no more angels?

A: Dear Mr Maddox

Time does not alter power, nor make angels and or other deific omnipresences complacent.  It simply diffuses matter and moves power from one particle to another.  Your mission, should you accept it, is to get in touch with the particles that will aid you in your quest for self-fulfillment, happiness, financial gain, spiritual revelation or world domination.

Dr Dee wrote many basic manuscripts outlining the principles.  They have since been quantified and synopsized by one Parker Torrence, who I shall quote here:

"Enochian Magick is the aptitude and proficiency of applying Angelic forces to attract events that are in harmony with your desired objective!

"Attract events ...in harmony"

The ability to create a higher degree of synchronous actions inside of your environment. All events occur within a greater pattern, most of the time we do not recognize the pattern until the series of events have passed. The concept here is that you have the ability to establish the pattern and to accelerate the number of incidents taking place within your sphere of control. Or, in very simple English, "like attracts like."

"Desired objective"

The goal that you choose to take place. With the understanding that all desires have a price and you must be willing to pay for what you want. After all, when working magick: there 'aint no free lunch !"

The last thing I would add to Parker Torrence's take on Enochian and other Magick is a potentially dangerous swerve (detour) from the metaphysical into the world of applied physics.  Viennese scientists have discovered minutiae they have dubbed "Entangled Particles".  The extraordinary nature of these particles is that they can be in two different places at once. Not only that.. they can be in two different 'times' at once.  The thrust of this discovery is that if they can be in two different places/times at once.. then they can entangle those times/places and thus time can overlap as well.  Thus.. the past can influence the future and the future the past or the 'now'.. etc.

My take on this is: one must ask the future what it requires of the now.. to fulfill itself later.  What do I need to 'be' now or be doing now to create the future that already awaits me or could await me.  This is a modified version of Enochian magick under the assumption that like attracts like.  One must become the thing to attract the thing.. but in the process of becoming the thing.. once you have arrived... are you any longer seeking it???

I hope these thoughts have shed some light on the concepts of what I like to call "Magick 101" and it's application in a scientific sense.
