THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
A quote written down in 1993 by my sister, found again June 19 2008 - by Marc Chagall
"If I create with my heart, almost all of my original purpose remains. If it is with my head, hardly anything is left. One should not be afraid of being oneself, of expressing only oneself. If you are absolutely sincere, whatever you do or say will please others."

"Often people attempt to live their lives backwards. They try to have more things, or more money, in order to do more of what they want, so that they will be happier. "There is no business like BUSINESS. You must define the business relationship so that everyone is clear on the responsibilities they have to each other and the project. So there are no questions about why you are doing what you are doing and what you are going to get for what you are doing. 8 June 2004 - VENUS TRANSIT
First transit of Venus across the surface of the Sun since 1882. Sky watchers across Europe, Africa and Asia will be perfectly situated to watch the transit as it happens during the day. Venus' first contact begins on June 8 at 0513 UTC (1:13 am EDT) and completes approximately six hours later. You can watch the transit if you've got the right equipment (a properly set up telescope with a solar filter), but it can be extremely dangerous to watch with the unprotected eye. The Americas won't have a good view this time around, but don't worry, there's another coming in 8 years.

"" Life is chaotic. I was walking along today looking at all the people, all the patterns, all the gays and straights lined up around City Hall getting married, with horns honking and lots of hooting and hollering. I realized that life is really a crazy quilt and what keeps us grounded; an address to return to, people we know, memories, our senses at play. Its so easy to get disoriented. Where is our compass? Humor and music are life savers."" V

"I disagree with your cynicism. Love is not disappointing. Real love exposes you beyond your wildest imaginings. The sense of vulnerability is what terrifies and ultimately can lead to painful disappointments. The fact that your 'persona' falls away as readily as your kecks when you fall in love. If the other person doesn't care enough to protect that nakedness... then you're in trouble 'cause they're not in love." ECS.

20 Ways to Live Longer:
6. Put your emotions on paper.
"Take three minutes to write in your journal, craft a love letter, or drop a note to a friend," says Pamela Peeke, M.D., assistant clinical professor of medicine at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and author of Fight Fat After 40 (Viking, 2000). "Especially when you're in a stressful situation, writing your emotions out is a catharsis." Indeed, researchers at State University of New York at Stony Brook found that 47 of the more than 100 asthma and rheumatoid arthritis sufferers in a study had a reduction in frequency and severity of their symptoms four months after writing about the most stressful event of their lives. They wrote for at least 20 minutes each day on three consecutive days. None of those who wrote about nonemotional topics saw significant improvement, reported researchers in the Journal of the American Medical Association last year. So dig deep for inspiration—and better health.""

"You have got to go out Rising on the Planes ever day of your life, year after year. You are not to be disheartened by failures, or too much encouraged by success, in any one practice or set of practices. What you are doing is what will be of real value to you in the end; and that is, developing a character, creating a Karma, which will give you the power to do your Will." Magick, AC

15 December 2003 - email from V to ECS.
"There are many things I want to accomplish and I have a limited time to do them in. First and foremost I want to find peace and enjoyment with myself. In those moments there is no age, there is no social or cultural prejudice, there is no worry about what I have and don't have. Its just the pure pleasure of living in my body and in my mind. I need more of those moments. I've squandered too many of them already worrying about what others think of me and trying to be some impossible thing I was never meant to be.
I know there are ways to reach an alternative reality because I have been there and that is when I am totally engaged in what I love to do. I know it is in the doing that we find ourselves and our richest experiences. I want more and more of that. " V

""7. The Order of The R.C. The Grade of the Babe of the Abyss is not a Grade in the proper sense, being rather a passage between the two Orders. Its characteristics are wholly negative, as it is attained by the resolve of the Adeptus Exemptus to surrender all that he has and is for ever. It is an annihilation of all the bonds that compose the self or constitute the Cosmos, a resolution of all complexities into their elements, and these thereby cease to manifest, since things are only knowable in respect of their relation to and reaction on other things."" 17 September 2003
""You write a list of everything
that is important to you, what you want and how you would like it to be i.e., I
will build a home in Borneo by the sea and drink Black Russians and play chess
with my friends till dawn. Things that ignite your imagination,
philosophical things, or things about your health, money and how you want to
live and love. I would keep it kind of simple because you have to read it
to yourself when you wake up and when you go to sleep. You will find
yourself changing things as you go along, adding, subtracting or editing items.
I just went to the park and sat on a rock and wrote out a list. At
first it seemed strange, but now it seems perfectly natural. Carnegie says
it was the secret to his success and that all his wishes and dreams materialized
for him. I think it does start changing you in ways you can't predict.
And strange things start popping into your head, as simple as "I will have
a pair of silver kid shoes with stitching all around the edge." It
can seem nonsensical but after awhile you begin to realize you are thinking
differently about yourself and your life, you are more optimistic and less
tolerant to people that are obstructing or harming you. You come to your
own defense more readily and you actually seek out ways to reach your goals more
aggressively and with less questioning of yourself. In the words of Vartas
Gregorian (President of the Carnegie Corporation, founded by Andrew Carnegie)
"Forces have their own logic." That may be a better way of
putting it that once you tap into your forces in a productive manner they create
their own logic and carry you forward to your goals in ways you couldn't have
planned or predicted. You start to develop a faith in yourself because you
are building it on a foundation of what is important to you and nobody else.
I also have noticed that there are elements in my life today, which are actually
part of my dreams but I didn't recognize them as such and that is very
comforting to realize. You just make it what you want it to be. Good
luck!"" V.
